Meeting Milica Vladova, author of Build Your Immune System Fast

Hello and welcome to this week’s Thursday Throng author interview. This week I’m pleased to have Milica Vladova on the blog with her book, Build Your Immune System Fast. Milica lives in Bulgaria and aims to spread valuable knowledge that will help others on their journey to happiness and well-being.

What is one thing that no-one would usually know about you?

My grandmother from my father’s side was a sound healer. In our culture, these gifts are considered to be passed through the DNA. So, I might have some healing powers of my own and someday I might try to develop them.

What did the best review you ever had say about you and your work?

WOW! Every single positive review is so precious for us indie authors. But I guess there is one about my Detox book bundle that says:

“What a wonderful resource, so jam-packed with information! The body has a great mechanism to heal itself and these books help with that. I’m really pleased because my daily smoothies are now more interesting with the recipes included. The other recipes are easily adapted if you are vegan like I am. This bundle is what I would term a coffee-table book because once you’ve read it through you can dip into it every day or whenever you need to be reminded of the great info inside. My health has greatly improved and I recommend this bundle to anyone on the same journey to health or thinking about it.”

This one really warmed my heart!

What did the worst review you ever had say about you and your work?

So far I have had merely one bad review and it is actually quite flattering, to be honest.

Most authors are familiar with these kinds of feedback which are connected to the technical side of book publishing, rather than the book itself. It goes:

“Never added to my kindle. I would like to cancel and re-purchase a hardback but I cannot figure out not how.”

Being an indie is truly an exciting calling, isn’t it!

Are there any occupational hazards to being an author?

Sadly, yes. Being glued to the computer and writing for long hours takes its toll. In time, you can get eye muscle strain and headaches, back pain, issues with your wrists, and weight gain. That is why regular whole-body exercises and a healthy diet are crucial. I enjoy yoga, taking long walks, and dancing.

Have you ever wished that you could be or do anything else instead of writing, and if so what?

As a kid I wished to become a teacher. And in a way, through my books, I am actually really close to that dream of mine.

Do you think there is any elitism attached to the different genres of books, both in the fiction and non-fiction worlds?

I think so. In my niche – the healthy living and holistic healing, books by famous personas get almost all of the attention. Being a celebrity helps a lot with selling your words.

Have you ever written naked?

Ha! Great question! But no – my hands and feet are often cold (even in the summer) and I am usually wrapped like a burrito! 😀

What is the single biggest challenge you faced when writing your book?

It’s fighting over my own inner demon – the fear of not being good enough.

Do you have any hints or tips for aspiring writers?

The only thing I have learned from the gurus in any field in life is this – be consistent, persistent, and patient. Way too many people lose hope too early – usually when being very close to a breakthrough!

How do you remain sane while working?

Yoga, meditation, long walks outside, travelling, journaling, and talking to my closest people.

What was the most important thing you learned at school?

The first impression is more important than we think! It may brand you for years ahead, if not for your whole life. So, be polite and help others, and they will be more willing to help you back. Yeah, this is not something you can read in the textbooks, but the social interactions I had in school taught me a lot, and I am deeply grateful for it!
