I’m very fortunate to live where I do; the South Coast of England is a beautiful area and my little spot also happens to be home to the Jurrasic Coast. On the 8th September this year it will also be home to the 3rd Charmouth Literary Festival to take place in four years. This will a Literary Festival with a difference, it is being organised by authors for authors and writers, rather than for readers (although readers are very welcome to come along as well if they would like to).
It is free to enter and takes place in the Village Hall between 9.30 and 4.30 on Saturday 8th September. This is not a BIG event, it’s a small and cosy event where everyone can have an opportunity to chat to everyone else, share ideas and even come away with a prize in our flash fiction competition (£1 entry fee online/free to enter at the festival).
There is a packed agenda for the day and it even includes a couple of sessions being delivered by me (Linda PH) on Blogging for Authors and Flash Fiction. Other exciting events include the launch of a brand new book ‘Be An Author‘ by Anne Orchard who will be talking about the book and sharing insights into what it’s like to be an author.
Wendy Knee, who will be appearing on the Thursday Throng later this month, will be talking about the art of writing a memoir – her new book is titled ‘Travel’s with Granny‘ and will be out later this year. There will be a poetry workshop with one of our local poets and an optional excursion down to Charmouth Beach (just five minutes walk away) over lunchtime with Walk, Write, Wild award-winning author Juliette Adair.
If you’d like to come along you can let me know and I’ll keep an eye out for you; alternatively just turn up and we’ll make you very welcome indeed.
