Life, the world and everything

Hum …. life …. it has a tendency to catch us out sometimes, have you ever noticed that? At the moment, my life is a bit of a roller-coaster moving at the speed of light through a huge number of changes that are happening, some of which I have control over and others I have absolutely no control over whatsoever – would I have it any other way? Well, of course the answer to that has to be ‘Yes’ – sometimes ….!

But, I am reminded daily at the moment of the Buddhist exhortation to live in the present; to forget the past because that has been and gone and can’t be changed; to forego worrying about the future because it is only what happens in the present that can affect the future.

No amount of wishing, hoping or threatening will affect what happens in the future – the only thing that can create change is to take action in the present.

In fact, one could say that where we are is as a result of all those actions we’ve taken in the past – so why not forget it and move on. Start living today, tomorrow will then sort itself out quite happily without needing any more mental angst or worry on our part.

The following article – explains it a little better I think: http://ezinearticles.com/?How-To-Live-In-The-Present?&id=389873

I AM SHOCKED – YES ME!  I JUST CAME BACK TO EDIT THIS POST WITH A COUPLE OF EXTRA LINKS AND WHEN I SEARCHED GOOGLE BLOGS FOR RELEVANT ARTICLES WITH THE SEARCH TERM ‘LIVE IN THE PRESENT‘ THIS POST WAS ALREADY INDEX – IN JUST 16 MINUTES – IS THAT A RECORD??????  THANKS GOOGLE ..!
