I’ve spent two days this week, with another one to go, being voiceover girl on a film. Actually, not just voiceover, but presenting to camera and a little acting at the same time. (more…)
Media Training Fun!
8 NovI spent most of yesterday undergoing media training with David Drysdale of DM4. Despite the fact that over the years I’ve done a lot of newspaper, radio and television interviews, I have to say I was disappointed at how badly I performed – and I thought I was good …… just goes to show how wrong you can be!
David talked three of us through the basics of dealing with the various types of media and then put us through two mock interviews. My first wasn’t too bad, but it was supposed to be a chat show and I didn’t talk for long enough (those of you that know me and who are now rolling round can get up off the floor – it’s true!!!). The second though was designed to be your worst nightmare and I’m not ashamed to say I lost it completely ending up with my head on the table bemoaning the fact that I couldn’t do it.
The questions were designed to challenge you in the areas that you were most sensitive about – the theory being that if you could take that, then you could deal with just about anything. Having said that when I did eventually recover my composure I did really quite well forcing David to fling the rest of his questions over his shoulder as I left him nowhere to go.
For those of you who may have to face the media in the future then you can’t do better than train with David – it will challenge and inspire you to be the very best you can be. You can find him at his website at: www.dm4.biz
The Fabulous DJC Ball
4 OctLast night was my debut at the fabulous DJC Autumn Ball – theme was black and white and Motown. What a brilliant evening and I danced, danced and danced and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The only problem was having to drive home at two in the morning, although to set your minds at rest, I was sober having had only one glass of bubbles when I first arrived at 7.30pm.
Guess what though, I forgot to take my camera so have no photo’s to speak of and am hoping that someone is going to send me some soon so I can include them here for your perusal.
This month is a big party month for me, last Friday I was at the Carrington Club’s Havana 2 cocktail party, last night the ball, next Wednesday the first anniversay dinner of the Dorset Women’s Enterprising Network at Moonfleet Manor. Finally, I’m off to Marrakech with my friend Mary for a week on the 18th.
ENFP
13 JunGosh, two posts in two days – I must be having a hot flush or something. Anyway, I thought I’d share a few thoughts. I’ve just sent a couple of online questionniares to some clients to determine their strengths and weaknesses and thought I’d include them here as well:
Try them out at:

Absolutely fascinating stuff! Over the years I’ve had to do many sorts of personality profiling tests and the Meyers Briggs has to be one of the most consistent (well for me at least) – I’m pretty certain that the last time I did it (way back in the late 1990′s) I also came out as an ENFP. To find out what this means you can have a look at the following discussion about the type – I rather like it and think it reflects me quite well – at least I hope so:

Just recently I also completed a motivational maps online assessment questionnaire after attending a presentation at an enterprising women networking event and strangely we were challenged to try and work out what our strengths were before we did it and it seems I know myself pretty well as I was spot on! My primary motivator is The Spirit – so those of you planning to offer me a job might like to rethink that decision as I like to be independent. My secondary motivator is The Creator, which means l love innovation and identifying solutions, it also suits the fact that I love to write. My third motivator is The Searcher which means that I need to do things that have meaning in a wider context than just getting that damned report in on time!
Hum … I wonder if it’s time to rethink here ….!
By the way, did anyone else see that strange little article in the Daily Mail about how people no longer seem to say Hello, I must admit I’m guilty myself of using ‘Hi’, so I think I might promote a bit of difference here and try Hello to start my emails in the future. I’ve just tried to find the article to link to, but it obviously wasn’t important enough to add to the website – shame really as that’s the sort of thing I find really interesting!
And finally, just because I’m interested in women’s health: Pictures of a human egg leaving an ovary!
